I’ve said this before, and I’ll say it again: there will be an election this fall, and in the fall of 2028 too.

But neither election is likely to go smoothly.

It has been obvious for a long time now that Trump, damn his name is openly trying to steal the midterms.

A looooong time.

But this piece by Thomas Edsall in the New York Times is the first one I’ve seen that tries to analyze the actual preparations that the coup is making for that, and thus the likely manner in which they’ll try to do it.

It’s pretty bleak.

If Edsall and the experts he quotes are correct (and there’s no reason to think that they’re not), then it’s reasonable to think that the best case scenario is armed standoffs between corrupt federal agents and citizens defending their local county elections offices.

The worst case scenario is corrupt federal agents raiding county elections offices unopposed.

It’s not a particularly happy read.

So maybe have a cup of coffee first, do the morning chores and then read this.

It’s not fun, but it’s important.
