See that little tiny guy right there? That’s the Congressional Democrats credibility.

No; no, they are not.

Hakeem Jeffries, the Democrat’s House Minority Leader and presumptive next House Speaker, had something very, very stupid to say about Tuesday’s election results.

Shocker, I know.

He said:

The American people don’t want us to get even, they want us to get things done on their behalf.

This is actually true, while still being very wrong (and stupid).

Speaking as an American person who voted for a Democrat House candidate on Tuesday, it is literally true that I do not want the Democrats to “get even”; this is not about competition, or retribution or anything like that.

I want the Democrats to get a head.

Preferably lots of heads; on spikes.

Metaphorically, of course; actual heads on actual spikes are gross. And immoral. And even illegal.

But a full third of the voters in the exit polls choose “the state of democracy” as the main motivator for their votes. These American people did not vote for Democrats hoping for any normal everyday political priorities.

The things these voters want the Congressional Democrats to “get done on [our] behalf” are:

  • investigations
  • impeachments
  • lawsuits
  • prosecutions

To scorch the earth beneath the feet of every person who perpetrated or supported this abomination on the United States of America.

To tear down every last “Saddam Hussein’s Cheesecake Factory”-looking one of their self-worshipping monuments.

And to start laying the groundwork for fixing our systems so the country doesn’t ever have to deal with this kind of fascist couping again.

That’s not getting even.

So in that sense he’s correct.

But it’s not what he’s planning to “get done” either.

And in that sense he’s very wrong. And stupid.

And should absolutely not be Speaker of the House until he starts listening to the electorate.
