
Kevin Williamson, of The Dispatch and the Competitive Enterprise Institute (previously of the National Review), is not someone with whom I expect to agree very often.
If ever.
But it happens occasionally.
Just as I can agree with Barry Goldwater‘s famous quote:
Extremism in the defense of liberty is no vice. And moderation in the pursuit of justice is no virtue.
Political horseshoe theory, which posits that the further right you get the more similar you get to the far ends of the left (and vice versa), is only correct sometimes, but it is correct some times.
So, you should read Williamson’s “Trump Is Anything but Unpredictable“.
Because he is not wrong.
And he’s right: in the sense that Williamson is discussing, Trump, damn his name is extremely predictable.
And Iran seems very much to understand that.
So, you should read this.
He’s completely correct and he writes quite well; better than I do, certainly.
His prose gets a bit florid, but a bit of florid prose in defense of liberty is no vice.
