Three strikes and I’m out;
I need time out
So I can feel sane again.

Today, on Lawyers, Guns & Money, Paul Campos asks a … question:

Is Trump going to run for a third term?

There are several answers to that.

The first, easier and most obvious answer is: No, of course not. He’s barred by the Presidential term limit.

There is no possibility, therefore, that Trump, damn his name will ever be a candidate for the Presidency of the United States again.

But he wasn’t eligible to run for his second term either, and that didn’t stop him.

So the second, stupider and more annoying answer is: Yes, of course. This country, whatever it may be now, is not the country of the past where (some) plain language Constitutional rules mattered.

Like the rules on who was actually eligible to be President of that country.

So really, they’re actually the same answer.

No, Trump, damn his name will not run for a third term as President of the United States; this country is no longer that United States where he had his first term.

He’s already running for his second term as President of this United States; the one where the entire federal government is inexplicably subservient to Donald Fucking Trump, damn his name, of all people.

There’s no guarantee that he’ll be able to get on the ballots, though.

This time we can only hope that it’s not just Colorado who applies the eligibility rules correctly; no state should let his name onto their ballots.
