Credit Where It’s Due: The Democrats Haven’t Caved On ICE Yet

*To say that I’m surprised would be quite an understatement.*

So the Congressional Democrats have found a line the fascist coup has crossed that will get them to do more than send another fundraising email.

And that line is ICE and CBP murdering Minnesotans.

If you want to get all precise about it, the line appears to be:

ICE and CBP murdering white Minnesotan activists who are U.S. citizens

Because that’s how precise you have to get to distinguish all the rest of the things the coup has done from the two incidents that got the Democrats to actually do something about it.

But OK, they’ve found a line.

And the Democrats are not gonna let ICE (who is already fully funded) have any more money until they promise not to do it again.

They’ve tried to fund CBP (who did one of the murders) without ICE getting any more money, but the Republicans blocked that, so it looks like the full brunt of the Democrats’ ire over this will fall only on ICE.

Who, again, are already fully funded and don’t actually need any more money to keep on keepin’ on.

The fact that all of DHS’ funding is being held up right now is actually because the Republicans won’t vote to fund all-of-DHS-except-ICE (who don’t need any more money) and the democrats won’t vote to fund ICE (who, again, don’t need any more money).
