“you trying to flex on me
don’t be silly
getting judgy wit it”

Judge Quraishi of the U.S. District Court in New Jersey may just be starting to get it.

Better late than never.

The transcript of his hearing last week shows that he’s … finally … starting to realize what the courts are going to have to do to deal with these lunatics:

  • accept no delaying tactics
  • ignore the line attorneys
  • call in the highest relevant official
  • require strict procedure

Anything less and they will just steamroll your court with bullshit.

It has, after all, only been a year of this nonsense.

So I suppose, in the context of the U.S. judicial system this probably counts as responding to the coup with unseemly haste.

They’re not really known for how quickly they can recognize that things have changed.

But this, at least, does show that there should still be some hope that the judiciary will manage to wake up before everything that made America OK is fully destroyed.

Again, better late than never.

Anyway, the best copy of the transcript I’ve seen is in this Mastodon thread by Law Professor Heidi Li Feldman.

It’s worth reading all the bits she highlights and gives screenshots for.

It’s clear that this judge, at least, is almost ready to actually do something.

Almost.
