Hold tight, wait ’til the party’s over
Hold tight, we’re in for nasty weather
There has got to be a way
Burning down the house

This is really, really simple; absurdly simple.

There is nothing legal about Trump, damn his name‘s incursion into Venezuela.

It was not an invasion, because it left no presence; it was a raid. War nerds would probably call it a “decapitation strike”, since it was targeted primarily on Venezuela’s head of state

Who they kidnapped (along with his wife) and transported to the United States.

But it was still absolutely an act of war, and without prior Congressional approval was completely unconstitutional.

Trump, damn his name had no legal authority to order this.

And every single person, from secretary of Defense Hegseth to the soldiers on the helicopters, had a clear legal obligation to refuse to participate.

It’d take a team of lawyers to come up with a full list of the crimes that were committed here, but it would at least include:

  • issuing illegal orders
  • conspiracy
  • misuse of government funds
  • assault with a deadly weapon
  • kidnapping
  • murder

That’s just off the my head, and I’m certainly not a lawyer. A good lawyer could come up with tens if not hundreds of crimes.

Though, of course, it is unlikely that any of these criminals will ever be charged for any of this.

But it’s important to see this clearly: in the terms of the Constitution and laws of the United States, this was a criminal act from the beginning of the planning stages through the present moment and will continue to add new crimes for as long as Maduro and his wife are in U.S. government custody.

And it is a damning indictment of the U.S. legal system, media, and society that it’s being discussed in any other way.
