That was a good weekend.

As this year marks the 25th Anniversery of Project Censored, a well respected media monitoring organization which publishes an annual review of under-reported news, they are celebrating with a Press Freedom Conference & Alternative News Media Expo at San Francisco State University this weekend (2001, April 27-29).
In addition to the normal conference and expo-type reasons to attend, and the obviously political motivations, it’s also a chance to meet folks from some organizations which you may have only seen on the Net. Among the groups which I know will be represented are:
- The Electronic Frontier Foundation
- The Independant Media Centers
- Independent Press Association
- The OpenNIC (full personal-interest disclosure: I’ll be one of the OpenNIC folks there)
These are just a few that I know will be there. The Conference program lists more and many more will be at the Expo part as well.
