“See a need, fill a need.” – Mr. Bigweld, Robots

If the organizations and systems in the world don’t do what you want or do it the way you want, you don’t have to convince them to change; you can replace them instead.

Even if only for yourself.

This is the idea of parallel organizing, or creating parallel systems to allow yourself and like-minded people to live the way you want without anyone else needing to change how they live.

This may be difficult, and isn’t always possible if you don’t have or can’t acquire the necessary skills, but it can offer a way to start making the world a better place now.

Leviathan Search is a new example of that.

I have posted here a lot about generative AI. I’m not a fan, since it is by nature unreliable and unreliable systems can’t be depended upon not to screw up massively for no discernible reason. It also sucks down unfathomable amounts of electricity.

tldr: I ain’t fer it, I’m agin’ it.

Leviathan is a search engine project that launched this week which only indexes sites who certify that they don’t contain content created by generative AI. It obviously doesn’t use any generative AI in its own systems.

It’s available now.

If you have a web site that isn’t made of generative AI content, I encourage you to certify that and register it with Leviathan so it can show up in searches there.

I’ve added this site; you can see its certification here.

Full Disclosure: I’m involved with Leviathan, and worked on it quite a bit. So, ya know, biased.
