“But screw your courage to the sticking place and we’ll not fail.”

I do realize that calling on the Congressional Democrats to actually do something substantive to prevent the fascist-dictator-ization of the United States is kinda a long shot; it’s never worked yet.

But they’re what we have.

You go into a fascist coup with the opposition party you have, after all, not the opposition party you’d like to have.

So as we go into the least-effective partial government shutdown in U.S. history, it’s important that we keep pointing out to them that No Government Is Better Than A Bad Government.

Let me repeat that in bold text: No Government Is Better Than A Bad Government.

Seriously, this is important: No Government Is Better Than A Bad Government.

You all really need to stop acting like this is just politics-as-usual; the genteel back-and-forth of civilized debate.

This is not that.

This is the nearly complete takeover of the federal government of one of the planet’s most powerful nations by a cadre of genuinely dedicated acolytes of an aspiring fascist dictator with an increasingly bad case of senile dementia.

Now is the time a for scorched-earth, Sherman-in-Atlanta, response to anything that supports the coup.

(A level of response that could have been avoided by more strenuous opposition over the past year. Just a note for the next time this comes up.)

So, seriously: shut the whole thing down.

It would be better to dissolve the United States entirely than to let it become the country the coup aspires to make it into.

The world would not benefit from a fascist United States on the global scene.

And the population here would be better off without it too.
