And you try to fix it
Trying to repair it
Any way you can
The United States was designed to be resistant to change.
And, hoo boy, that part of the design worked.
That would be less problematic if the most famous part of the design, the “checks and balances”, had worked too.
But since the checks on executive power have fallen to a combination of sub-group loyalty, insider collusion in the legislative and judicial branches and a completely ineffective opposition party, we’re in a really unfortunate position where the elected head of the State is effectively unchecked but there are no paths by which to fix this.
Even if the Democrats win a majority in the Congressional mid-term election.
‘Cause the Democrats are just useless.
Many of them, and all of their national leadership, don’t seem to see the current situation as a real problem much less an actual crisis.
Seriously, go read some quotes from Jeffries; his statement that Trump, damn his name was right to pardon Cuellar is kinda the perfect example on this point: the Democratic Party leadership is more committed to maintaining its social status than in fixing anything.
This is not new, but the level of obviousness kinda is.
The only paths to fixing the U.S. system from within that system are effectively blocked:
- the federal executive is taking orders from a fascist who wasn’t eligible for the Presidency but was allowed to run and won
- the federal legislature is controlled by the fascist party and takes its orders from him
- the federal judiciary is controlled by appointees of the fascist party and the Supreme Court takes its orders from him as well
- the U.S. system has no paths to change that don’t start with Congress and go through the President
Seriously, the U.S. system was designed so that both Congress and the President are required in order to fix it and Congress and the President are both currently in charge and therefore benefiting massively from the current system.
That was never gonna work for very long.
Frankly, it’s kinda surprising it lasted as long as it did.
But now it’s well past time to recognize that the United States is broken and cannot be fixed; it must be replaced.
