And Donald Trump will not be on the ballot for it either.
Though I’m sure he’d very much like to be.
But he won’t.
Firstly, there is no authority under the Constitution that would allow the federal government to delay or cancel a presidential election. And no hook on which the corrupt Supreme Court could hang a decision allowing it either.
Though that’s certainly not to say that they won’t try.
I’m quite certain that they will.
But call me an optimist all you like, I’m not convinced that more handful of citizens would go along with it if they did.
Because if there’s one thing every citizen here remembers from elementary school civics, it’s that there’s a presidential election every four years.
And if there are two things every citizen knows, it’s that presidents can only have two terms.
And neither of these facts is going to change any time soon.
For one thing, we all know that changing either of these things would require a Constitutional amendment.
It’s highly unlikely that this crowd of lunatics could get their act together long enough to push the necessary bills through Congress, after which it would have to be accepted by at least 38 the states.
And that’s just not gonna happen.
It’s just not.
Regular elections are probably the highest shared value the United States has; we held the regularly-scheduled elections during the Civil War and both World Wars.
Many of us ignore politics entirely until the elections happen; we complain about the options and bitch about the results. Sure.
It’s kinda a love/hate relationship, really.
But I don’t see any reason to think that the public here can be convinced to not have them at all.
So unless we have some catastrophic failure of the federal government, one big enough that even career politicians are forced to recognize that the United States just isn’t a viable thing any more, there absolutely will be a presidential election in 2028.
And Donald Trump will not be on the ballot.
So that’s nice.
