I’m all for folks picketing business whose owners they don’t like, or picketing government offices whose officials they don’t like.
Fine, traditional American First Amendment stuff there.
But I think it’s more useful to say what you want to happen rather than to focus all your energy into just hating something.
(That is, after all, the point of this blog: to make me focus on how things could be better rather than on how they suck at the moment.)
So let’s turn the Tesla protests into car shows.
Get a bunch of folks with a variety of EVs to show up, line their cars up in front of the Tesla dealerships and show them off.
Take questions from passers-by; show off the features you like; compare them to Tesla’s offerings.
Give the potential Tesla buyers you’re trying to dissuade an alternative.
I drive a plug-in hybrid Jeep Wrangler; they’re complicated machines, and certainly not for everyone, but they’re awesome and if what you need fits into what they are you can use them as almost-entirely electric vehicles.
I can certainly spend a few hours telling folks about it and showing it off.
And maybe someone who would’ve bought a cybertruck will find that useful and go buy a Jeep 4xe instead.
So, if you have an EV and can explain what it’s like to own and drive it (and especially if you can then explain why giving money to Musk is just plain wrong right now) then get yourself down to the nearest Tesla dealership Saturday morning.
(Any Saturday morning; this will probably be going on for a while.)
Park out front and sell some folks on why getting one like yours is better than buying a Tesla.
